Hermitage

Hermitage sits directly between our shop and downtown, so it is an easy add for almost any schedule. The neighborhoods here are established, the lots are a comfortable size, and most of the turf is fescue with a fair amount of shade.

Shade plus clay means thin, weed-prone turf if the mowing height is wrong. We keep fescue tall through the summer here, which shades out crabgrass better than any product does and keeps roots cooler through July and August.

Beds around Tulip Grove and the older streets tend to be mature and overgrown. A prune-and-mulch reset in early spring, then maintenance through the season, keeps them from swallowing the front of the house.
